Special Events

Social Studies at Grandview School

I will be making presentations in two Grade Eight Social Studies classes taught by Ms Miriam Greet. Pre-Meiji Japan is part of the Alberta Grade Eight curriculum, and I will be using my academic work on karatedō to have a conversation about some cultural differances between present-day Canada and traditional Japan.

Kūshankū Practice

By some counts, there are 65 moves in Kūshankū. On Saturday 1 December, there will be a special training session, in which we we’ll aim at performing the kata 65 times consecutively, without rest. We estimate it will take about two hours. The venue is the Dance Studio at Scona; the start time is 0900. All World Congress karateka who know Kūshankū are welcome.
