Muay thai distinguishes the push kick from the dhe dhrong เตะตรง (straight kick). The push kick is a foot thrust, used to push the opponent away, destroy her/his rhythm, or put her/him off-balance. In general, it is quicklly follwed by another, offensive technique. It is considered the equivalent of a jab with the hand.
